I had recently moved out of the house where I had grown up in (town name omitted for confidentiality).  A few weeks later, my brother passed. The family that had bought my house told me that they had a strange experience after my brother died. The owner’s son was sleeping in the basement when the family cat started hissing at nothing. Then the son heard footsteps coming downstairs. At that point the cat went nuts and took off out the room so fast it ran into the wall! It scared the son so bad that he wouldn't sleep downstairs for awhile. My brother’s room was in the basement. I've been told there have been other things happen though I don't know what exactly. I was also told that they have gotten used to the things that go on.

My second story involves the house I now live in. We moved to *****, the next village over from *****.  From the time we moved in, we have experienced voices, and music. We have also had items disappear and then re-appear days to weeks later. We have a cemetery behind and to the right of our house. The noises don't bother us, it just gets annoying when our "friend" takes things that we need.

CONFIRMED - I used to work at the Century Tavern in North Ridgeville, OH.  From the start I knew there was something very odd about the place.  It started when my friend who used to run the tavern asked me to keep an eye on it while she went out of town.  She already told me the history of the building and that it was haunted.  To be honest I really wasn't sure.  The first day I was there nothing unusual happened to me but the second day I opened myself and I had this incredible feeling I was being watched...No matter what I did I couldn't shake this feeling. I blasted the music, played pool, etc. Finally, I said to myself, "I know your here, I believe you are but that doesn't mean I need to see you". To be honest I've never actually saw anything in the months I was there. I have felt things.  Now my friend and her sister lived in the upstairs apartment and have had their own stories of paranormal activities...I have slept there a few times but again to be honest I've never actually "slept" when I stayed there.

One night I was in their apartment and was talking to my girlfriend on the phone in the kitchen. My friend was in the living room watching TV.  She asked me to get off the phone and watch TV with her. I said OK. Now she had a long mirror in the living room. You can see the hallway that connects all the rooms together through it. Not 1 minute after I sat down to watch TV she sat straight up and said, "you are not gonna believe me there is not point in telling you." I kept saying "What? What? What?" She said she say a man walk into the kitchen through the mirror. Immediately after I said she was full of it, her pit bull ran into the kitchen after something.

That night I did not want to sleep in the living room at all. I was scared but I really had to. It was around 6 am when I finally started to fall asleep. I'd say about 5 seconds after I fell asleep, I was woken up by my leg vibrating as if my cell phone was going off. I immediately got up looked around my feet and legs for my phone and turned my head to the coffee table next to me and my phone was sitting on it. Needless to say I didn't sleep at all that night.

My friend had two dogs (pit bulls) and a cat living with her and I have seen all three react strangely to the walls.  This experience isn't the only one I've had.  Things happen at this place often and when I say often I mean on a daily basis.  This place is definitely haunted.  Thank you for validating that this place is indeed haunted.

We moved into our home in 2000. We always heard this thumping noise when we were in the bedroom. Sounded like someone bouncing a basketball out-side our room or it would come from the ceiling area. It wasn't till one night (boyfriend) and I had gone to bed. I was a dancer at a local bar and had just come home from work about 3am. I herd the bouncing! I tried to wake (boyfriend) but he was sound asleep. I felt very uneasy about being in that room at that moment. Despite being scared, I laid down. I don't know how long I laid there with my eyes closed trying to not focus on the bouncing ball noise...but I felt something was in that room...looking at me...it wanted me to see it.  I fought my instincts that told me not to look at the foot of the bed. But like a little kid, I had to open my eyes. (Let me describe how I was positioned under the blankets. I had both of my hands tucked under my thighs, arms pencil straight. So the blankets were up to my chin. My head, free to move but otherwise tucked in tight!) So, here I'm looking at the end of my bed, not moving my head, just my eyes. I see a man wearing a blue plaid shirt tossing an invisible ball to another man in a red plaid shirt who was on the other side of the bed( (boyfriend)'s side towards his knee are). The figures were in a black silhouettes, shaded head area, so I couldn't make out a face. They didn't know I was watching them at 1st till I took a shaky breath. The figure at the foot of the bed turned his body so it faced straight at me. OH S*it!! I thought he see's me! I can only describe the movement as a jittering effect/flickering/shaking. TERROR ABSOLUTE TERROR IN MY HEART! My body felt like it was had tingle factor from head to toe. I couldn’t move! I wanted to jump out of bed and run, but my legs wouldn’t move. I couldn’t scream to get (boyfriend)s attention or move my arms out from under me to grab the covers, grab anything at this point!! Tears came down my cheeks as I struggled to cry out to (boyfriend) who was 24-inches away from me sleeping. It felt like 60 seconds passed as my voice was that of laryngitis called my boyfriend's name 3 times!!! The last time I screamed it (boyfriend)!! He awoke and said what’s wrong! I was shaking, crying, I told him everything. He said, I was dreaming! I told him it was real. He dismissed me and said calm down, go back to bed. I was furious! So I laid back down this time with my arms out of the covers at my side. Covers down by my waist. (just in case there was a re-run of this Sci-Fi flick! I swore I wouldn't open my eyes for anything! As you can guess...that didn't happen. I felt that feeling and I looked, yet again! This time it was only the figure on (boyfriend)'s side looking at me. I knew it was going to use me or fly into me. I took a deep breath and said to my self "I'm ready". With that he flew into me. This time I felt enlightened...Not scared! I felt connected. A tear rolled down my cheek again, this time it was a feeling of happiness and awe. I awoke (boyfriend) again and I was excited to tell him what happened. After that night (boyfriend) too could hear the basketball dribbling. We called a friend who recommended a purity prayer, lighting of a white candle (also tell those who has passed away to go to the light. OUT LOUD) and told me to crack the bedroom window over night to give the spirits a way out (the window thing threw me but what did I know) after I did the prayer, I never saw the brothers again. The next fall, we lost that house to fore-closure (2002 fall). We moved into (boyfriend)'s Mom and Step dads House (it’s our house now). New people moved in, never had the courage to meet them and share my story.

STORY NO.2

In 2002, the step-father took ill. I was putting up a Christmas tree for him early Nov.11th because his organs were shutting down it wouldn't be long till he passed. A few days I thought at 1st. but then he started talking to the angle on top of the tree. At 1st I thought he was talking to me but then when I looked at him I could see he was looking over my head up at the angle. He said, "What did ya say? Where are we going? OK....When are we going? Umm...O.k. I'll be ready". I touched his arm and said who are you talking to? He replied nothing, no one and tried to cover up what was said by distracting me. Saying, "get ***, I'm thirsty". *** is his wife. I told her with tears in my eyes please don’t go to work (Step-father) is going to die tonight. She said he was just babbling and not to worry. He wasn’t going anywhere yet. I knew...I just new. It was 11:00pm that night when I gave (Step-father) his nightly pain meds. He was sitting in his hospital bed in our living room. His arms behind his head like nothing was wrong he looked healthy, vibrant, and happy. I asked, are you ok? He answered I feel Fine! I said ok, I'm going to bed if you need me yell. He nodded I headed for the basement where we had our bedroom and as closed the door I said,” Goodbye, I mean Goodnight". I thought why did I say that...What a terrible thing to say..Goodbye! ahhh. As I lay staring at the ceiling I said in a whisper please don’t die on my birthday (November12th) I looked up again and felt this open air feeling, like being on the lawn looking up at the stars in the sky… At that moment I knew He was passing on…. I heard a loud crash as if something was knocked over in the living room. I didn’t rush to get up. When I opened the door I saw nothing. I walked over to (Step-father) who was half fallen out of the bed…. He was dead. The time was 3:50am. That morning when the family came to pay respects there was a star above our house. A HUGE, BRIGHT, STAR! Like in the birth of Jesus Christ! After 8:30am it was gone. I knew it was a sign from him. The next day his sister heard my story and commented. At 3:54 am she awoke to (Step-father) at the foot of her bed saying goodbye. She lives in West Virginia. 4 minutes!! He got there in 4 minutes!

STORY NO.3

After (Step-father)’s death I smelled flowers in our living room. I sensed someone in the bathroom with me and in the hallway. One night I came home from a party with (boyfriend) we were lying in bed when I could swear I saw a shadow by the computer desk. (Boyfriend) looked but it was gone. All the lights were off but the headboard lamp. All of a sudden the bed started shaking hard! (Boyfriend) and I jumped off and ran over to the steps. He then flung the bed on its side. Nothing! Soon after we started smelling smoke in the middle of the night around the 3am time frame. We dismissed it as his mom was up smoking in the master bedroom. His mom has moved out in 2004 leaving us the house. We moved our bedroom up and made the basement an entertainment room and game room. Since then and often...we see shadows, smell cigarette smoke. The smell comes and goes. One minute it’s so strong it wakes you up, the next minute. NOTHING! I see figures in reflections of TV's Computer screen, shadows in hall ways. My dogs see things, bark at things I can’t see. I found out (Step-father)'s mother died in the back bed room and she smoked.

My grandpa died in Oct 07' I saw him 1 week before he became bed ridden. I hugged and squeezed him with tears pouring from my cheeks begging him not to go with-out saying goodbye to me. I knew again...he was going to die soon. But I wasn’t going to miss out on my good bye! My grandpa said to me..."Don’t get old, it’s terrible". He told my son, "Do good in school and be good. Enjoy life and don’t get old". We both gave him a kiss and he told us he loved us. That was the last time I heard his voice. We left the house after that went home. That was on Friday. I decided to bring him some homemade jam on a Monday.  As I was driving there I was contemplating maybe waiting till Wednesday to bring the jam because I had so much running around to do. As I was talking out loud to myself in the car these words came out..."He probably won’t live till Wednesday evening.  Better go now!” OMG!!! Did I just say that out loud? I thought. When I saw him 15 minutes later he had his eyes closed and mumbled when I said, "I brought you jam". I whispered in his ear with a soft, trembling voice, "I love you...don’t forget to see me before you make your trip. You’re going to a place with no pain… a better place.  Be happy Papa. Bye"...and with a tearful face I left. Wednesday had come, I was planning to come and see Papa after I took a nap. As I slept, I had a dream.

I was lying in bed looking up at my ceiling and Papa was kneeling on one knee looking down at me, he said, "I have to go away and you won’t see me for a while”. I replied, “NO please don’t go. I grabbed for his leg while crying out please don’t leave! Papa! Please". Then I woke up.  I ran downstairs told (boyfriend). He said, "Don’t get upset it was just a dream". That was at 6:30pm. I started to get ready to leave to see grandpa when the phone rang at 7:30. I got a call from my father.... Papa had died in his sleep. The coroner was on his way. The time of death was later documented at 6:30 pm.

Dad's House.  My dad called me and told me that he was walking down the rec-room steps when something physically pushed his back causing him to fall down 5 steps hurting his leg and neck. I asked my dad about the ghosts I saw in my old house he told me he had a similar thing happen to him. He also had heard his friend *** speak to him in his bathroom while taking a shower. He looked out the curtain and there was no one. 30 minutes later ****'s wife called to tell my dad he passed away.

In 2004 I gave a co-worker a ride home in my car. Fur Elise, a classical piano song, was playing in my head. I said out loud, "Why am I hearing this over and over?" The girl responded that her grandfather use to play that on the piano when she was little. She then said that she has a painting (of a naked woman dancing) hung on the wall. It keeps falling off the wall.  She anchors it with sturdy hooks but yet it falls. She said her grandfather recently died and wouldn't approve of her profession as a dancer. I then started crying for no reason but felt this over whelming feeling of love and heart ache. I never saw her again after that.

My Story of the Paranormal.  I live in (town), Illinois. We bought our house almost 9 years ago. Our first experience started about 6 months after we moved in. My husband and I were lying in bed, almost asleep, when a bright flash bolted us both upright from bed. It was as if someone had just taken a picture. We both got up thinking it was the kids and when checked on, they were both asleep. Shortly after moving in, we started to remodel the attic into bedrooms. Our son, who was 11 at the time, said he was hearing voices at night. He said the doors above his closet were opening. These doors were extremely hard for my husband to open. I kept hearing things, getting weird feelings but my husband didn't believe. One night that changed. The lady who owned our house years before (and died here) hated my brother in law, He had been drinking and was yelling out loud "Ha-ha. I'm in your house Alice what do you think about that?” After he left, as we were going to bed, my husband and I heard a very loud distinct female voice laugh. He looked at me and said “Oh my god! I heard that.” Ever since then he has been a believer. We still experience things like our bed shaking, vision of people in our peripheral vision, footsteps and things being moved. My scariest encounter however was when lying in bed I awoke to a feeling that like someone was holding me down. I was so scared but couldn't scream or move. I tried to open my eyes but could only open them slightly. This only lasted less than a minute and when I got my eyes open, it looked like a person holding me there. As soon as my eyes were totally open, it was gone. It has happened two more times since then. People ask why we stay here and all I can say is most of the activity is not real scary, and I love my home. My kids do get a little scared when they hear the footsteps or the keyboard typing in the middle of the night; my animals seem to playing with the spirit sometimes also. When something comes up missing, we simply ask out loud for Alice to put it back. Later in the day we will find what was moved or "lost". I would love to have someone come out and investigate. I will send some of our pictures of the house sometime.

One night, when I was about 8 years old, I awoke from sleep, and even though the room was dark, I noticed an even darker shape in the middle of my bedroom. It seemed to be a cloaked figure, not well defined.  It reminded me of what you would think of the Grim Reaper looking like. I was terrified.  I pulled the covers over my head, to hide.  Then, whatever it was must have come to me, because I then felt like hands were around my throat, pushing me, repeatedly, down into the mattress.  It seemed like an eternity, but I'm sure it was only a few seconds, and then it was over.  I stayed under the covers for the rest of the night, never looking out.  I must say, too, that I never heard any footsteps or other noises of movement or breathing from the dark shadow. As my house was very old, with creaky floors, I should have heard some type of movement, but I heard nothing. The next morning, I told my mother what had happened. She said I was just dreaming, and yet, my neck was very sore, as if I had been choked by hands.  Blessedly, the experience never happened again, but I'll never forget the one time that it did.

My sister and I had to share a bed when we were little.  One night, I had to go to the restroom.  As I sat up, I saw my sister come up the stairs and stop at the top of them, just a few feet from me, but she didn't make a sound.  Stranger still, she just stared at me and didn't move.  I could see her face plainly because the moon was shining in the window, directly on her.  There was a look in her eyes that I'd never seen before, one that terrified me.  Her normally pale blue eyes were very dark, and she seemed to glare at me with an intense hate.  I felt like the being in front of me looked like my sister, but that evil in her face wasn't her.  I couldn't do anything--move, cry out, nothing.  I felt frozen.  Then, my sister lifted her right knee, took a step backward, down the steps, into the darkness, again, without making one sound; she just disappeared.  I expected to hear her tumbling down the stairs, but nothing.  After gathering my wits, I looked down, and my sister, that same sister, was sound asleep in bed beside me!

My Story of the Paranormal – We’ve lived in our home 31 years.  Needless to say it is very haunted - actually everyone who has spent a night here experiences paranormal activity. My mother says I attract ghosts. Maybe so. They rarely scare me however there have been some scary moments for me. We have seen a woman, hear noises, see a little girl a man at times and lots of dark shadows. We have also seen an older woman in the basement. This house is well over one hundred years old. I am a retired nurse and, when still working at a nursing home in (town name omitted), I was injured in a fall and had to take off work for four months, I missed a certain patient a lot; she was so sweet. I worked on the Alzheimer’s unit. She had attached herself to me, anyway when I returned to work I could hardly wait to see her, but something happened and I became very busy. When I finally settled in at the nurse’s station, I saw Mary.  I hugged her told her how much I had missed her.  She smiled and walked away. One of my co-workers came through the station and I told her I finally got to see Mary and give her a hug.  She turned chalk white and told me that Mary had died a month earlier.  Wow.  I was so happy that she came to say goodbye to me!

Dear Readers:  We were blessed to have had a wonderful story sent to us by a site visitor.  After his story appeared on our website, the man's father emailed us with a most interesting confirmation.  Here is "Jim's" story, with his father's reply below.

Hello:  I have a lot of experiences to tell. I will start with my family moving into a new house in 1988. I was 12 years old. We would go to the house and work on fixing the place up on the weekends. At first we would leave the house late after dark and notice a light had been left on in the basement. this would happen all the time and we just thought it was nothing but forgetfulness on our part. Then we moved in and more things would happen and sounds would be heard.

Example: one the first things I can remember was me and my brother were in the basement cleaning a small room that had paneling on the walls we looked up and saw all the panels were bowed in about six or seven inches from the wall. This was startling and we ran and told my dad. When we returned the walls were completely flat. my dad blew this off and we went back to work not understanding what had happened.

Then a few weeks later my dad was in the basement working on a broken window and he heard a very nasty sound like a cat hissing. He stopped and looked around and then continued to work then he heard the sound again this time much louder and closer. he said all the hair on his head was sticking straight up and he left very quickly. Now at this time my brother and I were not afraid of any thing because we had never seen or heard of ghost or unknown things in our lives.

But one evening we were in my bedroom playing video games on my bed when a round football shaped shadow flew in the room and into my open closet door. We jumped up and asked each other what it was. I ran to the closet and started looking for it in the hanging clothes and found nothing. We laughed about it and went back to playing. A few minutes went by and the same shadow flew out of the closet and out the door of the room. It was startling because it did not follow the wall like a shadow. it was a mass in the center of the room. We quickly ran down stairs and told my mom and dad what had happened and they said just ignore it and that they had seen it to in other places in the house and didn't want to tell us so not to scare us.

As the years went on it was like clock work every night at 3:00am or 3:30am we would hear some one walk up the stairs not just a creaking but the sound of their feet rubbing against the carpet. One night I decided to look and see if there was something when I heard the sounds. so that night I jumped out of bed and looked out my door that is at the top of the steps and I saw a man walking down the steps away from me it was not like a ghost or what you would think a ghost looked like he was as real as me very solid. I was very scared I woke my parents and told them I saw a man in the house and it must be a burglar because he was so real looking and ghost was the furthest thing from my mind. My dad got up and we went through the entire hose to find nothing all window and doors were locked. I never got up and looked when I heard a sound after that.

I was awoken one night by the sound of my parents screaming. I ran in their room and they were completely freaking out. My mom said that she had woken up to a very large floating ball of black ink as she described it. It was over their bed and as she looked at it. A man’s face was looking back at her. She started to yell and my dad woke to see it as well. This black floating ink cloud had been seen many times after this.

There are many more experiences of my parents with the cloud, then me. It had gotten so bad in the house that my dad got some people from a church to come in and bless the house, even though we didn't go to church, but he said we had to do something or we may have to move out. I will tell you that my worst experience was one night I was in the basement taking a shower as I did every night. After getting out and turning off the bathroom light and walking through the laundry room I reached up to turn the laundry room light off and I caught something out of the corner of my eye in the bathroom. I stopped and looked hard into the room. I could see the washer and dryer in the dark and what looked like a shoulder and arm coming from behind the washer it startled me and then a relaxed I thought it was just a sweat shirt or something on a hanger on the side of the washer. As I relaxed the shape moved and stepped out from behind the washer. it was so black I could see it very defined in the dark room it was about three and half feet tall and had short legs and very long arms with no neck just a head. As I looked I could see its arms kind of swayed back and forth slightly then I made eye contact with it. Its eyes were blacker than its body - very hard to describe - and it could tell I saw it.  I just ran as fast as I could. And the entire time I was running I heard this horrible cat hissing scream in my left ear as if it was right behind me. When I reached the top of the steps it stopped screaming and I was still running all the way up stairs where every one was getting ready for bed. My dad yelled what I was doing I told him what I saw and he told me to draw a picture of it. When I was done, he showed me a picture he had drawn earlier.  They looked the same. He said he saw this thing at the bottom of the steps one night. I moved out not to long after this. I was 18 years old at the time.

My parents say they still hear things at night but they sleep with the hall light on and their bedroom door locked.

Dear PRO:  My son Jim told me that he wrote to you about our paranormal experiences here at our home in (city) Ohio. His mother and I have kept many things from Jim and his brother thru the years so things wouldn't get out of hand, with the boys seeing something every time they turned around. What Jim said in his letter is true but it's only a small part of what goes on.

Close friends asked us why we didn't sell when things started going on and the only answer is that we couldn't afford to move and nothing has ever hurt anyone. We have lived with things that we cannot explain for the last 25 years or better. When my wife and I first started experiencing things that we knew were not normal and, at that time the wife and I didn't believe in things like ghost or the paranormal, so I did what I think a lot of people would do, I asked my dad.

One day when we were alone I asked him if he'd ever seen a ghost. My dad was in his sixties at the time and had experienced world war two and much more life then my thirty years. He told me that there are things that go on in this world that no one can or will ever explain. He said he never seen anything or experienced anything himself like ghost, but he told me a short time after my mother and him married she woke up around two o'clock in the morning one night crying, scared and soaked from sweat, saying she saw her best friend Jenny that she grew up with sitting on the foot of the bed just staring at her and when she focused on what she was seeing she said Jenny was crying and softly said,"I love you" and then vanished. Dad said she was shaking and crying and wanted to call Jenny to see if everything was ok. My dad told her it was just a dream and she'd wake everyone up, and they'd think she was crazy. He said
he calmed her down and got her to go back to sleep. Dad said that around an hour later the phone rang and when he answered it my Grandfather was on the other end crying saying Jenny died in a car accident a little while ago. My dad said he felt the hair stand up on the back of his neck. He said I know that your mother saw Jenny that night and Jenny told her goodbye. He said that I was the only person that he ever told that story to and my dad would never lie to me.

So we've lived here for close to twenty-five years now and now and then things happen, some have scared the hell out of us at times and other things we just can't figure out, and yes we do sleep with a hall light on and lock our bedroom door for what that's worth - and we don't care if people think we're crazy or not, we know what we've seen and heard in this old house thru the years and that's all that matters.

And if you don't believe in ghosts, then good for you. But if that day ever comes, and you ever see what we've seen, all I can say to you is your heart better be in good shape because I'm telling you it's no joking matter when you see something and you feel your heart pound so hard it hurts in your chest.

Thank you for letting me share our story.

  - Jim's dad

More stories:

My husband and his family lived in a "haunted" house when he was younger.  The house is located in ****, Ohio.  The landlord has said that his family was the only people who could live there.  If it was rented it wasn't long before the renters moved out.  There are numerous personal accounts of paranormal experiences by all of the family members and even those who came to visit but couldn't finish there stay.  There are two accounts that I find interesting.
The first is when my husbands mother was lying in bed with her husband.  Her backside was facing the doorway and she felt a smack on her fanny.  She yelled at her husband for doing such a thing and doing it so hard.  He was adimate that he hadn't committed the deed.  They got out of bed and turned on the light to find a bright red hand print on her
bottom and when measured it was twice the size of her husbands.  The second is the sound of a rocking chair rocking in the middle of the night when there wasn't one in the house and a baby crying when there was no baby in the house either.  When you would get up in the morning after hearing the rocker and the baby you would find infant footprints all over the top of the dining room table.  It looked as if the infant had been held to let stand on the table top.  That happened over 25 years ago but ask anyone of them and they act as if it were yesterday.  I don't know if there is any paranormal activity in there today but I just wanted to share a very small portion of what they had experienced.

Back in 1993, my daughter was born, after a week of being home, she started getting sick with some type of "ooze" that was coming out of her nose, eyes, and mouth. We rushed her to Children's medical hospital and they thought she had spinal meningitis.  Being to young to have certain tests done, they kept her in the hospital  for almost 2 weeks running all kinds of tests on her. I really didn't leave her room at the hospital for the time she was there. She was my first born and I didn't know what to do except be there with her. Well, after a week , my mother told me to go home and get some rest and take a shower cause I stunk. So I went home and took my long awaited shower and was in the process of getting my socks and shoes on in the living room when I heard a knock at the front door. I got up and answered it seeing my Papa there, I stepped to the side and he entered my house, turned around and shook his head yes, and smiled. At this point he walked out the front door and I closed it thinking that this was kinda strange being that he didn't say one word to me. I then went back to putting on my socks and shoes when the phone rang, it was my mom on the other end crying, telling me that what my daughter had was just a real bad virus that had to run its course and that she would be all right, I told her that I kinda knew already because Papa came and smiled at me, she was like WHAT??? I told her how Papa came in the house and turned around shook his head yes and smiled then left. She then said,"You do realize that your Papa died when you were 2 years old. I just froze there unable to speak or move. It was so real that I wasn't even afraid and I knew who he was, and just a little upset because he did not speak to me.

My story takes place in my grandmother's house in ***, Ohio. I moved in with her the year her youngest daughter got married and stayed with her for five years, when I got
married.

Many times while I lived there I would be down the finished part of the basement where I had a television.  I would hear my name being called and as it was only my grandmother and me in the house, I would assume that it was she who called.  I would go upstairs and ask her what she needed and she would tell me it was not she who called.

Every year that I lived there, the ceiling light fixture in my bedroom would fall, always in the middle of the night and would always shatter, scaring me right out of bed.  She would come in with her broom and we would clean it up and she would just walk out of the room shaking her head.
A couple of years after I moved out, I asked her if any more fixtures in "my" room had fallen and broken. She told me that it had not happened since I moved out.

One night, about 2:00 in the morning, I got up thirsty so I went into the kitchen. I was standing at the refrigerator drinking some iced tea directly from the jug (she didn't drink iced tea) when across the long counter, the sink turned on full blast. It had one of those single handles that you lift up to turn on and my heart froze.  I calmly put the lid back on the jug and put it back in the fridge and walked over to the sink to turn it off.  I did say out loud for them/it to leave me alone, before I ran to my bedroom and put the covers over my head.

We also had an experience together.  I was sitting on the loveseat opposite the couch she was sitting on, watching TV. It was one of the old console televisions, a big monster in a wooden box. Well, we were just sitting there when I noticed, for lack of a better word, a puff ball just kind of bouncing slowly up and down on the corner of the TV.  I
looked across to her and asked if she saw what I was seeing.  She smiled and said yes, she did.  I immediately got up to get a closer look. As I got near it, it zipped down the side of the television and scooted across the floor directly behind her.  She was a tiny little lady, so I moved
the couch with her sitting on it, but there was nothing there.

A few years later, my brother moved in with our grandmother and he slept in the same room that I used to occupy.  He told me that one night, he woke up to see a little boy in blue knickers walk into the closet.  I often wonder if it was he who broke the light fixtures and enjoyed teasing me so much.

Submitted by site visitor -  Lorain correctional has a haunted housing unit. I was working that block one night we had 124 prisoners all in their cells for the night. About 2am I thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye and then my buddy thought he heard something. We both got up and started checking the ranges (our cell doors are solid with a window for us to see in to the cell). I got to a particular cell and before I could get my flashlight up to the door I saw in the reflection a dark figure walking away from me. I turned around and there was nothing there. I looked in the reflection again and saw it walking towards the restroom. I turned around and started toward the restroom and looked in and saw nothing. The next week, 5 prisoners claimed that a man walked right through the wall!

Hey PRO:  Here is my story full and uncut. Enjoy.

Location and History of place:  Hamilton Missouri, 1 owner, has been in his family for over a 100 years.  Used to be slave house.

Ok, it all starts as any other night.  My brother was a cop in (town name) during this time and his apartment was on the 2nd floor of this house.  In order to get to his apartment, you had to go thru the front door of the House and up the stairs to a glass door. He was the only person living there besides the owner of the house, (name), 8080 years old, who lived downstairs on the main floor.

My brother's Roommate and I decided to get out of the house for the night. After we returned, we got out of the car and went to unlock the main door of the house.  We both started to feel a little uneasy but just thought it was nothing.  She started to unlock the main door when I started to tell her, after seeing an apparition at the base of the stairs, to hurry up.  No matter what she did the lock would not come undone.  Next thing I knew I was up against the car and so was she.  It felt like I had been pushed or something.  Almost like when someone tries to stop your movement and they put their hand on your chest to stop you.

At that very moment my brother comes around the corner in his Cop Car with his lights and sirens blazing. When he got there he looked at us confusingly and asked us if we just called in.   We had told him that we did not since obviously something would not let us in.  He then proceeded to tell us that they just received a call from HIS phone inside HIS apartment. When he checked in to let dispatch know he was on site, dispatch had informed him of 2 more calls, this time no-one spoke, just heavy breathing.  I heard this and became confused.

My brother then entered the building to investigate and when I looked up from the road to the 2nd story kitchen window (about 50 feet away from apartment door) I saw him, at the same time, I saw a shadow of someone standing at the apartment door.  When  my brother had looked down at us I pointed at the building letting him know that I saw someone or something standing at the door of the apartment.  My brother's roommate and I were both positive he would see someone in there, I mean there was a shadow there, of course someone had to be standing there.  After a few minutes I saw my brother come down the stairs and out the door, he told us no-one was up there and the place was clear.  Right after he said that I pointed back at the apartment door and stairway and told him to look that there was someone there.  He went to the stairway and saw the shadow as we did, and proceeded to walk up the stairs.  No one was there.  I ran up the stairs and into the apartment.  My brother started to tell me that if I were to see anyone in here to immediately call him, he would be parked only a couple of blocks away for awhile.  Right then my brother and I both at the same time saw a shadow of someone walking down the hallway toward the back of the apartment.  I ran after this shadow but to no surprise there was no one there and no where for anyone to go.

After heading back to the front of the apartment, we saw the shadow again, this time the shadow moved slowly.  We stared at this shadow while looking down the hallway expecting to see someone, but no-one was there.  Later my brother pulled an old picture of my grandfather out of his room and told me the next time the shadow appears look at the pic and look at the shadow, when the shadow reappeared I looked at both and the shadow resembled my grandfather.  What he was doing there I don't know.  Was he there to protect us from an evil entity that followed us from his roommates friends house?  To this day I don't know.

Now here was the ultimately weird thing. Coincidence or not.  On the wall in the living room, my brother's roommate had one of those hand print plates.  Just out of pure fun I put my hand into the hand print, It was an exact match and  when I did put my hand in there it started to get really hot and started to burn me.  After I pulled my hand back quickly,  my brother's roommate and I both heard someone say, "Get out!"  I called my brother and told him.

The rest of the night got calmer and calmer, and the next day I went home.  I never went back to that house.  My brother kept telling me that it was haunted but I never believed him till that night.  If it was my grandfather in the apartment, why was he there, and what was he protecting me from?

My Story of the Paranormal - My husband and I own a home in (town) Ohio.   We have often said we would love to have the home investigated before we move out within a couple of months.  I have "convinced" myself the activity we have is my deceased son, maybe because that makes it less scary and then again maybe it is him letting us know he is ok and loves us.  Some of the things we've had happen in our 4 yrs of living here are...
1. A water fountain with an angel holding a child was turning on without the switch being in on position after it happening several times with all members of the house, I've temporarily wrapped it up and put it in
the garage. Then...
2. Our doorbell never worked so we bought a new one and installed it, it only has 2 choices of rings and we selected the one we wanted, however, MANY times a day and night and during the wee hours it will ring, with approximately 5 or 6 tones that aren't in its program, we again have opted to smile and say we love you too.
3. I was upstairs and just felt uneasy suddenly, I had been saving votive holders for future use in the corner of our bdrm, I felt so uneasy I went downstairs and my cell rang it was my husband and I told him how
I was feeling, as I started back upstairs with him on the phone, I said there were 3 of the votive holders in a row at the top of the stairs, it was impossible for them to "roll" there etc..again I just removed them from the room.
4. Yesterday while watching TV, (I can see our computers from the sofa) I heard the new printer on my husbands desk turn on, shut off, turn on and shut off again, I went to look to see if the computers had somehow had a screen open that triggered it but nothing, I said out loud ok that is enough of that for now thank you, and the doorbell again chimed 2
times.
5. Last night at least 4 or 5 times as we watched TV our golden retriever would jump up and tail between his legs would stare off or slowly walk to another room as if looking at something/someone etc.

Our home is in the process of foreclosure so of course our time here is limited. Its been very difficult for us because we love our home and I felt the first day I entered it as if we were "meant" to be here.

As a child I lived in Lorain, OH, on the east side. The house I grew up in was haunted beyond belief.  There were three entities in it I am positive of.  One was a small boy that gave me the impression he died in a fire sometime in the house. The second was a lady in about her 20s or 30s.  She was always wearing a yellow dress with a hat and carrying a parasol, most times she was carrying a tea tray so we either called her the lady in yellow or the tea lady.  The third entity I never personally saw, felt his presence a few times and was the butt of his pranks a lot but never saw him.

My older sister and I shared a room growing up and the first experience I can remember happened when I was about 4 or 5 (my sister was 6 years older than me).  We were lying in bed trying to fall asleep (we shared a bed at the time) telling each other fairy tales.  When I opened my eyes and looked straight up to the ceiling I saw my sisters doll carriage floating over the bed.  Now this carriage had a visor that spun when the carriage was pushed and it played some kind of song.  The visor was spinning and the music was pinging away. I told my sister to look and she put the blanket over my head and began telling me I didn't see anything and to go to sleep now or it would just get worse.  I went to sleep.

Another very memorable experience I had was when I was a little older about 12.  I had just gotten home from school and was the only person in the house.  I started to go upstairs to my room to do my homework and looked up the steps as I was walking.  On the landing heading down the steps was my sister's porcelain wedding doll.  Now I've never been fond of my sisters doll collection, but after that I wouldn't go up the steps until my mom moved the collection (the whole collection sat on the balcony to the stairs). I remember I saw that doll hop down one step and tore out of the house so fast I didn’t even shut the front door.

The most impressionable experience I ever had in that house happened when I was 18.  I had just had my first daughter and I was staying with my mom and dad while my husband was in boot camp for the Marine Corps.  I was pretty set in the schedule of waking up every six hours to check on my daughter and feed or change her.  My father was doing some renovating and there was no door on the room the baby was in.  One night she

Happy in the thought that she might be sleeping through the night already but feeling the new mom worry of maybe I just don't hear her I went to go check on her.  When I got close to her room I looked in and saw the lady in yellow sitting in the rocking chair next to the crib.  I could hear her humming softly and when I stepped towards the room she looked up at me and smiled.  She looked down at my daughter and said everything is all right in a light wispy voice and went back to humming and rocking in the chair.  It kind of scared me but also made me feel good to know for sure my daughter had more than just me watching over her, even so I quickly grabbed her and put her in bed with me for the night.

I could go on forever about the stories from when I lived in that house.  It was so scary at times but some of my fondest moments were entwined with the entities of that house.

Ohio: Having read tales of its rumored hauntings
in the "Haunted Ohio" book series a few years ago, my husband and I decided to check out the Golden Lamb restaurant and Inn.

After selecting the room in which we wanted to stay, we waited for the restaurant to close so we could begin our "watch night" for the rumored
spirits.  (Note:  While the Golden Lamb appears in the book series of haunted places in Ohio, the inn's own web site does NOT tout its spirits as a tourist attraction!  In fact, we found NO mention of any
hauntings on the site's web pages.)

After eagerly perusing the halls after hours ("Come on, ghosts!"), we didn't see any spirits.

However, after retiring to our own room, my husband and I separately witnessed two distinctly different lighting anomalies on our ceiling,
shortly before dropping off to sleep that night.

The next day, after comparing notes and heading home, we gave no further thought to our visit to the inn...until things started disappearing in our home shortly afterwards.  (Note:  My husband and I had not, until then, had any odd occurrences in our home until AFTER our trip to the Golden Lamb.  [Although, we discovered later, our daughter once
mentioned a woman--who was not me--who covered her in blankets once in our home when our daughter awoke during the night...)

It was then that my daughter (late teens) and I experienced three different episodes of us telling one another, "I'm going to wear (fill-in-the-blank) tomorrow" from our closets, only to find that the mentioned items (which had been in plain view when mentioned as wardrobe choices for the following day) were suddenly nowhere to be found!  But then, a day or two later, the items were again BACK in the closet, in the places in which we had looked--in vain--for them earlier!  (Note:  We didn't
discover that we were experiencing the same missing-clothing events until we began comparing notes a few weeks after the incidents.)

My "proof positive" came one Saturday when everyone, except me, was out of the house.  I had been entering some friends' address updates into
my computer but had missed one which was on a note-sized paper all by itself.  Thinking the task finished and turning off my computer, I then
saw the note to my right on the computer desk and thought, "I'll tend to this one later."  Leaving it there, I began to deal with other tasks around the house...

Two hours later, I returned to my computer to check my email (and also to take care of that earlier-overlooked note)...when I noticed that the
note was gone!  Thinking that it probably fell somewhere nearby, I began looking under and around the computer desk (including in drawers and in all the stacks of paper nearby).  The note was nowhere!  (No big surprise, as clutter has a way of swallowing things around it, right?)

But a few hours later, I again went to log onto my computer...and the missing note was once again where I had left it, hours ago!  At this point, I began to get a little nervous...

At some point, amid all these events, a young woman we knew had left her coat at our home.  AFTERWARDS, having borrowed a guitar tuner from her, I decided to place it back into the coat pocket (so she could retrieve both items at once).  However, before she again visited us, and upon
realizing that I again needed her tuner, I sought the item in her left-behind coat-pocket.  Incredibly, the tuner could not be found!

It was at this point that I said aloud to what I had surmised what a spirit we had brought home from the inn, "You COULD be helping us FIND stuff, instead of HIDING it!!  If you can't be HELPFUL, I'm going to have to ask you to LEAVE!!"

Note:  My declaration was an exasperated statement--more of a threat than a command.  But, after that day, the guitar tuner was again found in
the coat pocket.  Both have been returned to the rightful owner.  And, since that time, no more clothing (or other items) have been found to
be missing from our home.

We think that--in our excited eagerness--whatever we may have brought home from the Golden Lamb, has finally departed.

OHIO: In our high school drama group, it was common to experience seances as part of our cast parties.  Often called-upon  spirits were Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.  (We wanted to know if their drug overdoses were accidental, or if they were successful
suicide attempts.) We'd sit in a circle on the floor, hold hands, and ask for the various spirits to make themselves known.

Over the year of two of my experiences with this group, I'd gotten used to the "show" of one of our senior members "speaking", answering questions asked of the invited spirit.  (I'd always figured that it was the senior class members playing some kind of group prank on the younger
members of the group.)

I was totally unprepared, however, for the night the spirit tried to speak through me!

As usual, we began our seance by calling forth the spirit of Jimi Hendrix.  I wasn't surprised when the person to my right squeezed my hand and then began to breathe laboriously, while answering our questions posed from other members of the circle.

However, that person suddenly STOPPED speaking, and the person on my LEFT began to pick up the "conversation".  (Being a skeptic, I thought, "Good planning!  One person stops abruptly, while another picks up where s/he left off!")

However, shortly afterwards, that person on my LEFT stopped speaking.  I quickly felt a squeeze on my left hand, and then what I can only describe as a "power" began filling up inside my chest.  Suddenly, MY
breathing started to change!    I felt what I can only describe as "a ball of energy" trying to lift from my stomach, past my lungs and into my throat.  I ALMOST began to speak...but I purposefully broke the circle at that point.

I KNEW I wasn't "in" on any joke that may have been circulating among my senior friends.  Whatever happened was REAL, and I wanted no part in it.  It felt WRONG!  And I have never again participated in a seance.

(Coincidentally, I have a VERY Christian friend who once allowed himself to be part of a Ouija board seance.  He and his group had asked for a "sign" of a spirit's presence...when ALL the water in the house turned on at once!  They literally RAN from the home and, like me, have never again participated in a generic calling-forth of spirits.  'Cause you
never really know WHO you're going to reach....)

In 2005 my mother passed away.On Mom's following birthday, in Feb,2006, my sisters, niece, and I tried to contact her spirit.
We went to Mom's house, where she died and sat in the same room she died in. We took some of her personal items and turned out the lights and each of us concentrated on her for several minutes simultaneously. We each took turns talking to her and asking her to show us a sign that she was o.k. After a few minutes of silence,A bright pink teardrop-shaped
orb outlined in bright green appeared in front of me.I was shocked and I whispered for my family to look. I pointed at the orb and followed it with my finger for them to see where it was floating.I followed it for
about 15 seconds and it disappeared.None of my family saw it-just me.Well, a few minutes later, after a little more conversing toward Mom,an orb appeared to my sister. But the one she saw was all green.None of the rest of us could see it.After that,my niece could smell roses, (she frequently took Mom roses when she was sick),only her. It was like Mom contacted each of us uniquely.

My Story of the Paranormal - I live in the same house I grew up in. It was my parents home until about 5 years ago when my husband and I
purchased the house from my mother. It is located off of East Broad St. in Elyria, Ohio.

When I was a child I experienced many strange things there as did my sister. But I also had relatives that would come to visit and leave
because of things in the house or later they would tell my mother about things that happened or made them uncomfortable.

On many occasions, as a little girl, I would see an elderly woman in a black dress wearing a white apron. She was always in the same corner
of the living room near the front door and the stairway leading upstairs. No one ever believed me and thought I just made it up or had a vivid
imagination. Well, sometime after I had married and left the house, my father had gone up to bed and had only been laying there for a short
time. He saw, who he thought was my mother, walk through the room and go out the back door to the second story porch. Then he realized that my
mother didn't own a black nightgown or robe. So he got up and went out onto the porch and no one was there. My mother was downstairs when it
happened. He immediately called everyone to tell them that he had seen my ghost.

As I said, I live in the same house today and although there are occasional noises and my dog acts a little freaky every now and then, I have
never seen her again.

There is a campsite in Brookville, IN that my mother and her best friends went to (it was owned by her Bff's mother and father) well they all
have kids now which are my bestfriends. We all grew up together so we pretty much consider each other brothers and sisters. Now we go there with our little ones. Our moms and dads always told us stories about this white shot-gun style house that was right across the street from our
campsite. It sits right off of the road and beside miles and miles of cornfields. The road is a one lane road so its pretty tight when two cars
drive towards each other - keep that in mind. Supposedly this house has been haunted for many years. When they were all teenagers they knew the old man that lived there, the original owner. He had a wife and she had passed away in the house, he went senile and kept her body in the
house for a while before he called anyone. One night our mothers and family were all camping and they heard him screaming at his wife, calling her
names and being very vulgar. Someone must have called the police because they said the ambulance was there and police and they ended up taking
him in and the ambulance had taken her body out of the house. So ever since then, like 30-40 years, there have been weird occurrences. I am going
to list them in order as they have happened. These occurrences all happened to us aka "the kids" we are now all 19-31 in age.

1.- Ages 7, 10, 10 and 11 We were walking out of the campsite toward the house and were daring each other on who could walk the closest to the
house without freaking out. So Timmy did, he was the oldest and the only boy. He got up to about 30 or 40 feet when we started hearing dogs barking from the back of the house. It was me my sister who was 7, Timmy and Missy. Next thing we know is here are 2 what look to be German shepherds running after us. We turned around and took off running to the campsite my little sister couldn't keep up so Timmy somehow swung her up around his neck and ran with her on his shoulders, the poor thing. We get to the campsite and headed right for that big round monkey bar looking thing in the playground, we climbed up it and the dogs were right there at the bottom of it just barking their heads off at us. We stayed up there until they finally walked away. Now first of all, how do 4 kids ages 7, 10 and 11 run from 2 German shepherd dogs.... I dunno we did i don't know how either or if they were even really there - seeing the same thing with lots of witnesses was not uncommon.

2. We were only about 2 years older now, we were doing the same thing, daring each other to go up to the house as we did every year. This time
all 5 of us were holding hands, the new kid Josh, Timmy  and Missy's younger brother who was now allowed to hang with us big kids. We all held
hands and decided to walk up to it at the same time. The porch light comes on so we stopped and turned around and started calmly walking away
b/c we knew they had dogs. Well we turned around and the porch light goes off so we started walking up to it again, I'm typing this as it
happened b/c it was very quick. 3rd floor light goes on in the back, 3rd floor light on in the front, back door light on, porch light on, 2nd
story light on 3rd light in the back off, porch light off, back porch off. It was like they had 12 people in the house turning the lights on and
off as fast as the could all at the same time. That was enough to freak us out so we ran.

3. The cornfields - the very next year. New owner of the house we noticed because we were going to pretend we were Girl and Boy Scouts selling
cookies and we were going to dare someone to go up and knock on the door. It was about 7pm so it was just starting to get dark. We walked up to
the door and there she was a nun, fully dressed in her black robe doing exercises to the workout show on her t.v. of course we all freaked out
she turned around in her living room and she seen us so we ran. hahaha this is really funny now thinking back...stupid kids

4. Now this was just three years ago - So we were about ages 21-27 there was 6 of us. Me Timmy Missy Josh John and Brian decided since we haven't walked the street in a very long time to give it a go. So we took a few beers and walked out of the campsite turned left walked onto the road, campsite is now on the left its fenced in and lined with trees but you can still see people's campers you just can't get in because of the fencing. To the right are the cornfields and up about 150 feet is the house so we are walking towards the house talking and thinking about the good ol' times and before we knew it we had already passed the house and was starting to go down hill, it's way to dark there are no street lights so we decided to turn back. We were all walking in the middle of the street when we start to see an elderly man walking his little dog - one of those long haired terriers. Mind you it was about 2:30 am So he was on the right side of the street (the same side as the campground now) and we decided to make a single file line (for some reason) on the other side, which would be the same
side as the house. We were all walking, he gave us the look like like "damn kids" his little dog was just trotting right next to him on a leash. I was the last person he passed, I stared at him directly in the eyes, he was old, scratchy rough face gray hair long coat  a hat, his dog was brown and grey and white but kind of dirty a little, well when he
looked at me i smiled and then i ran up to my friend Missy because i had that feeling in my back like when you feel like someone is behind you so i
ran up to her and her and Timmy and Brian started laughing - so we're at like 3 seconds from his guy passing us, Brian freaks out and screams
and we turn around and the man and the dog are completely out of site. It was literally 3 seconds from the time he passed me to the time Brian
screamed so he couldn't have been but 10 feet away from us and he was gone, So okay did he get a big boost of young age and jump a 15 foot
chicken wire looking fence into the campsite - highly unlikely or did he walk right behind me and run into the cornfields which we TOTALLY would
have seen because the cornfields start about 20 feet from the road - We don't know who it was because we never saw the man that used to live in the house when our moms were teenagers. But we all think it was his ghosts and he was probably protecting his house. We may have been too addicted to that house and its happenings, but three things are true, we never damaged or trespassed in any way, we never caused any harm or foul play and we were nothing but curious kids having some innocent fun.

SITE VISITOR:  I am Native Am. and we spend alot of time going to pow-wows. A few years back my family and I went to the Mohican Reservation, in Loundenville, Ohio and we spent time in a camping cabin. I remember having a dream and I also remember waking up in my dream, and as I was, I felt this
incredible pain in my left arm- high up from my elbow like someone was literally lifting me up off of the floor (in the loft area) where I had been sleeping. When I opened my eyes no one was there so thoughts of it as a visitation of sorts so I said I don't know who you are but if I can't get you, I will walk across the street and find someone who can. Upon wakening completely up I thought it might have been my husband and he was really going to get it for manhandling me like that and then I realized that he was not in bed beside me, and could smell the wood outside where he was building the fire, for coffee. I got up,climbed down the ladder and went out to wake up, my arm was freezing cold like it had been in the cold for minutes and minutes. my husband asked me what happened to my arm and when I looked at it there were bruises in places where fingers would have been. I tried to dismiss this, and the more I thought about it I couldn't. It felt like someone had grabbed my arm, that is what woke me up. My arm actually was up in the air. I thought I could have got it caught-wrapped up in the blankets as I was waking up, but my arm was out and I was not covered. I thought the bruises were made when I kept rubbing it from being cold and when my husband put his hand around my arm, finger placement would be in the location of where the marks were. He seems to think, that with me having a strong connection with "nativeness" as he puts it, women were supposed to be the fire starters and it was  probably an old native woman spirit getting me up to do women's work, For those who may not be familiar with Mohican Reservation. It is considered hallowed ground because the Greenville Peace Treaty line runs right thru it. In the days of Techumsea (which is also connected with the area where I live now-Chillicothe-)many lost their lives in battle. I don't know what happened there, who was there, I know something happened, and I can't be persuaded otherwise. I am curious to know if others may have had a similar experience here-there- or perhaps know what took place. Thank you for letting me share my story.

This story takes place in Pennsylvania, on a bridge, and is the reason I am a paranormal researcher today. About 10 years ago my cousin and I were out driving around one night and found ourselves in Pa. and in the woods and we came down a hill and saw a bridge and pulled of to the side of the road to try and figure out where we were. We got out of the car and walked to the center of the bridge and stood there for a few minutes. After a few minutes it got really cold out...to the point that we almost could see our breath. Oddly enough we hear footstep in the creek walking through the water under us. Shocked at what we were hearing we thought someone was under the bridge so we ran back to the car and grabbed a flashlight he had. Creeped out and a little frightened we walked back to the bridge to find nothing. We ended up looking all around for someone to see of we can explain the footsteps we heard. We got back to the car and before the car started, in the moon light we saw someone *looked like a female* standing on the edge of the bridge and she appeared to be looking down into the creek. Once we started the car the female vanished and we never seen her again. We have done some research and found out that years before we seen her there was an awful accident were a young girl died at that very spot. To this day
every time I tell the story I get goosebumps.

TOLEDO, OHIO:

I guess my story begins when I was a child, I had 2 imaginary friends that had full names. They were not easy names either. My Parents did not
think much of it at the time but after doing some research in my adult life- i have come to understand that with children, sometimes this can
be a spirit trying to come through or make initial contact. I don't know if this is the case, just something to note. In my early teens I got up one night with my friend who was spending the night and we both swear we saw a man dressed in an Elvis costume in the kitchen cooking eggs and bacon on the stove. We both did not say anything to each other but ran up to wake up Mom and Dad and tell them what we saw and we both said the same thing.  In that house we would wake up to find dresser doors wide open that were closed at night, or bedroom doors would slam shut late at night and early in the morning. When we were moving we went in the attic and the prior owners had left a lot of stuff up there and we found old pictures tucked in the attic peak of dead people laid out in the dining room. My Grandpa had an experience when we were remodeling of hearing voices tell him to get out and the man did not believe period! He left and would not come over by himself. When we moved we moved into a house that was built in 1901- it was an old  carriage house in an apple orchard. My parents were remodeling and I heard someone knock on the wall adjacent to my new room - I thought it was my brother until the next morning when I went into the room and it was still wrapped in plastic with the ceiling on the ground. Once the remodeling was complete we would hear people walking in the attic and loud booms and such . My parents still hear these noises coming from the attic- could be the house settling? I did have one major experience in my life- I was outside and they live on the water, I was writing in my journal and it was like I blacked out or something because I could hear my Mom screaming and next thing I knew I was in my room sobbing - 3 flights up and don't remember a thing and no one was home at the time so my Mom was not there to scream. In my current house I have little to no activity. Sometimes I feel someone watching me but that has even backed off.  My Grandpa recently
passed and on the night he passed it was not windy or breezy and when they took his body a bell rang in the distance and that is something we talked about, he said he would ring a bell when he was at peace.

Site Visitor:  I have had the pleasure of seeing a few things in my life. The one that has stuck with me is the one I had when I was 16 years old.

My bedroom was in the attic. I remember waking up because it got so cold in my room so I put the covers over my head. I was trying to keep the heat in my blankets. So as I laid there it must of been about 5-10 minutes after I woke up that I started to hear foot steps and I knew that something was there. So I just laid there still until the stops got closer, I wrapped my blanket around my body and ran down the steps and I slammed the door behind me all the while I could hear the steps chasing me. I ran into my mothers room, after I shut her door I heard my door open and then close. I started to cry, my mom woke up and she knew what had happened before I could even tell her. I never slept in the attic again I just didn't have a bedroom after that I felt like whatever it was that chased me that night didn't want me there so I never went back, I wouldn't even go to get clothes unless someone was with me. I have had other experiences but this one has always stuck with me
.

INDIANA:  My wife and I have been living in the same
house here in Brookville Indiana for about 10 years, here is my story.  On moving in we felt that we were not the only ones living here, there  have many times we have experienced several things. Once I was in our  bedroom when I heard my name called as if it were my wife calling from downstairs. I yelled back asking what she wanted but got no answer, as  I laid back down  I hear my name called once more again I asked what  she wanted. The 3rd time I heard my name called I got up and went downstairs, thinking my wife hadn't heard me but when I got downstairs I found my wife asleep on the couch. Another time as we were getting home, it was still day light out I noticed out of the corner of my eye a woman walk from the garage through the backyard. She was dressed in period dress long black dress with a bonnet.  We came inside and I sat down on the couch which is against our picture window looking out back. When I turned back towards the living room my wife was looking at me and she asked "You saw her also?" I had never told my wife what I saw yet she her also.

My Story of the Paranormal - I was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base at the time, and I was stationed at a lone post in the corner of a restricted area late at night. About an hour into my 8 hour shift, I looked out and saw a male figure walking out of the woods. None of our patrols were supposed to be in that area, so I picked up my radio to call it in, but it did not work anymore. I had a flare kit next to me for emergencies, and as I looked down to pick it up, and then looked back up, the figure was now on MY side of the fence. This fence was about 8 foot high with barbed wire, and it could not have climbed over in the amount of time. Just at that time, a patrol came around the corner between the fence and the treeline, and as soon as the headlights hit the apparition, it vanished. I was so spooked. Thanks for letting me share.

I have had a few experiences.  I would awaken and hear a child screaming, "Mama!" I would check my children and all would be fine.  One night my 3 year old heard it and met me in the hall. He was screaming "The boy in the nightgown!" as I heard the urgent call for a mother.  I was not the mother this child wanted. After I calmed him down, my son told me, "A boy in a white nightgown. He went up in a light." I hope he found his mother.   Maybe he felt the a mother energy in the house.  Records in old newspapers indicated that the house had burned long ago when it was a farmhouse.  The owner told me that he had found burnt areas when he rehabbed the property in the early 1980's. It had not be a farm for at least 80 years ago.

My horrified time at the Spitzer Plaza
Hotel.

This happened a few years ago, and I'm still uneasy at night. While in Lorain (Ohio)
for some things I was staying at the Spitzer Plaza hotel in one of the smoking rooms (i think 2nd or 3rd floor), anyway at first it was all right, the hotel is rather old and the interior did remind me of the movie "The Shining"
Well, after a few nights (I had to stay there for a week) I was awakened by something that felt like it kicked the foot end of the mattress up as hard as it could. At first I thought it was cramps or some sort of restless leg syndrome, this was not the case. The second day I would leave the television on and before completely
falling asleep I would see a shadow dart across the front of it, there was a distinct form to it and it did interrupt the light. Needless to say, this really freaked me out. After convincing myself I was just tired I
tried to go back to sleep, only this time the room was very quiet and I could hear a very menacing breathing coming from right above me, at first I thought it was my breath sounds being reflected from the bedsheet,
but it wasn't. Along with that there would always be a loud banging noise from directly behind me, like someone in the wall was striking the pipes in it. And around the same time at night the door to the
stairwell would shut very loudly, like it was being slammed. All these things usually occurred around the same time in the late evening/early morning.
I've only told one other person of this story, and the response I get is that I'm full of crap. So, my challenge to anyone that reads this account is for you to actually go there and see for yourself, something might happen, but then again nothing might happen at all. All I know is what happened to me was very real, and years later I'm deathly afraid of a totally dark room. Being in a dark quiet place was something I used
to enjoy until I stayed at the Spitzer Plaza hotel.

This story took place in Joliet Illinois .
My Uncle Jim was very young when he was killed by a forklift truck.  He lived in this house with my grandparents.  Just a few days after he
died another significant event happened in our family.  My other Uncle Tom wife gave birth to a baby boy.  And here is how the story goes (this
is second hand passed down from my mother)  My grandfather was asleep upstairs in his bedroom.  My uncle's Jim room was in the rear.  In
other words to get to his room you had to walk through grandpa's room.  No one had been in my Uncle's room since Jim died just a few days before.  Grandpa was awaken by the ringing of the telephone.  It was my Uncle Tom and he told grandpa that his wife had given birth to a baby boy that they had named Jim.  Grandpa said Great! And soon he fell back to sleep.  In the morning the light in Jim's room was on.  Everyone believes it was Jim that turned on that light to show his approval of the birth of the baby boy.

I have lived in my home with my husband and children for the past 10 years. Over the years we have had quite a few experiences. My oldest son would come down the stairs and say "what" or "yeah" to me as if I had
called his name.  After a while I thought he was going crazy. One night in his room, I had taken a picture of my sister and her friend who were spending the night in his room after a party. When I got the photos
developed all the pictures turned out except the one of them in his room. The picture of them had this white mist on the bed where they were. You could see through the mist to see the bedcover but not my sister and
her friend.

My youngest son's have spoken often about a "man" in the hall. One day I heard my three year old having a conversation with "someone" when I asked who he was talking to he quietly said "the man in the hall"! Of course there was no one there!!

My husband and I have heard footsteps in the hall almost nightly. I thought I was losing my mind because for a while I was the only one being woken up by it, but then one night the sound made my husband get out of the bed to investigate, I knew it wasn't just me. These things have never hurt any of us, however it is a bit frightening. Over the years different things have happened, like toys talking in the middle of the night, red flashing light in the house (it's source unknown),dark shadows, cold breezes (it's an old house so that one I can understand), but ten years later things are still happening. Tonight the lamp in the hallway has a three way bulb in it.  It has been turning itself on. I decided to see what was causing it.  I recorded myself touching the lamp to turn it off, and almost every time it turned back on by itself. So I unplugged it for a few minutes, plugged it back in and once again recorded
myself turning it off, only to have it blink back on bright, brighter, brightest (it's a three way bulb)...

It was  quite amazing and still unbelievable that it was happening. I am going to unplug that lamp tonight when i go to bed, even though I am not a full blown "believer", I am sensible and know that lamp could
very well just be a fire hazard, however given everything else we have experienced here I also think that lamp had something to say.

I have been questioned many times about why we stay here. To simply put it, it's our HOME and I have never been afraid to stay here - I've been startled and scared but not to the point of leaving.

Thank you for your time, and for this wonderful site.  It's nice to
know I'm not alone.

My daughter and I moved to Indiana from California shortly

after my husband passed away in 1999.  I ended up buying a house that was over one
hundred years old.

We had lived here for about two weeks before we started noticing things.  I was awakened almost every night by the sound of two children, between the ages of two and four, playing in my room in the attic.  My daughter, at the time, was nine years old.  I told them to hush and they would giggle and then quiet down.  I've woke up to the smell of ham and
eggs cooking at four in the morning, several times.  I've been awakened by the sound of a man's voice, calling my name.

All of this has happened over the last seven years.  It started to calm down until my mom moved in with me from California.  Now, I'm being woke up by the children almost every night.  My daughter is now seventeen years old.  She's been woke up by, what she says is, a little girl with long red hair.  My dogs sit for no reason and stare up as if they're expecting treats for obeying a command.  My mom has woke up in the middle of the night, smelling something on fire.  I smoke, but that doesn't smell like fire.

My Story of the Paranormal - This is my favorite story because it was witnessed not only by myself, but by my family, and many friends as well.

It was August 27 2006, and we were attending my Uncle John's funeral. The minister was giving his service, and he began talking about how the
spirit leaves the body, as soon as he said that the light above him, he was in the viewing room standing right in front of John, went out, and came back on. I believe that was the very minute that John left us all.

After the service was over I walked over to my cousin and her brother, both are johns children, and asked them if they saw that, they said that they had.

We furthered to the cemetery, where a white dove was released, it's a ceremonial thing, and then instead of the dove simply flying away like they are supposed to, the dove circled us 3 times, and then went.

I believe that which is truly paranormal is visible to everyone, and sometimes, involves other beings, such as the ceremonial dove :)

November 17, 1975:  I was only 17 at the time. I got into the paranormal by accident when my twin sister gave me her copies of haunted house stories. It was around midnight; I was in bed reading.  All of a sudden my bedroom ceiling light went out. Under my breath I said "oh no" then, after about a minute or 2, the light came on again.  About 5 minutes later my Mother walked into my room and told me that my grandfather had just passed away, I heard that sometimes the spirits can say "good-bye" by turning off or on something.  The next morning I asked my parents if the power went out.  They told me no.  I had no problems with that light after that. We moved out of the house in 1980.

A few years ago, Bill’s son was practicing driving. One day, we all went in the car with him, when he was practicing driving in the cemetery.  Bill was in the passenger seat.  We passed this old man, and he threw us five kisses and smiled.  Bill turned white and asked his son to stop the car. I asked what was wrong and Bill told us that the old man was his dead father.  We turned the car around and looked everywhere.  The old man was nowhere to be found.  He could not have exited the cemetery, not that quickly. We checked every exit.  There were five of us in the car a kiss for each one of us.    Bill took it as a sign that he approved of our newly formed family.    I have seen pictures of him and have no doubt that was him.

Winterwood Gift Shoppe - This house was built in 1722 by Joshua Hildreth and moved to its current location sometime in the 1800's. The final Hildreth descendants to live in the house were spinster sisters who died in 1948 and 1954. It is believed that it is the sisters that haunt the house to this day. Among the activity in the house the most common are: whispering, footsteps, and the apparition of a figure gliding across the lawn to a property's cemetery, and objects being moved or opened.

At the time I visited this place, I was 12. We were friends with the owner of the shoppe's sister. I do not know if she still owns it. Anyway, even at 12, I was fascinated with old houses and things like that. So when we pulled into the little white-stoned driveway and I saw the shoppe, I loved it right away. It was clear, sunny, and warm, a nice summer day. We went inside to look around. There were all kinds of things, knick knacks, dolls, stationary, etc. I saw stickers in one room, so I immediately ran over there to look. I was so into the stickers, I hadn't noticed at first that everyone had left that room. I glanced around, then continued to look at stickers. All of a sudden, the hair on the back of my neck stood up, and I got chilled to the bone. It felt like I was being watched. It was not very cool in there, as the house was old and only had window AC units. Where I was there were no windows. I stood there for a second, dropped what I had in my hand and ran to find everyone.
Eventually we made our way outside, to look at the family graveyard. Most of the grave stones were at least 100-150 years old. I love old graveyards, and I couldn't wait to see this one. We made our way down the gravel path, to where the gravestones were all nestled in a huge patch of ivy. I bent down to read one, and all of a sudden the wind started blowing so hard. A minute ago there was no breeze at all. I looked up, and these huge dark clouds seemed to roll in from nowhere, and a minute or two later, lightning started to strike down all around us. No rain, maybe one clap of thunder. I got a very angry feeling from the place, and I turned and ran out to the car, jumped inside, shut and locked the door. I was shivering. I don't know what happened, but it sure felt like something didn't want us back there. Everyone else came barreling out of there right after me, looking fairly frightened. What was it? Who knows...but I sure won't forget that experience.

------------

This story took place in Old New Castle, Delaware, one of the oldest and most well-preserved colonial towns in the U.S. It is mentioned in Leslie Rule's book, "Coast to Coast Ghosts" under "Most Haunted", she's the daughter of true crime author Anne Rule, by the way.

I like to post links with my stories if I can, so you all can see what the places look like:

http://www.visitnewcastle.com/about.html
http://www.hauntedhouses.com/states/de/house3.htm

It took place at Amstel House, which is a few streets down from the Old Courthouse. I went there with my friend, mostly to see sites, and in the back of my mind, I was hoping to see or feel something a little paranormal.
I did.
As soon as we walked into the house, I felt all kinds of things, I don't know if they were emotions or a presence or what, but I had a slight asthma attack. Anyway, the guide started telling us about the house, and said George Washington had been in there, and, there in the fireplace floor was the date he was there and his name. All kinds of important people had lived there, and even a pirate or two had "visited" the house. Anyway, I had a strong feeling this house had "tenants." Upstairs was where it all happened. The guide took the two of us (we were the only people on the tour) into the master bedroom, which was dimly lit with one floor spotlight. There was a portrait on the wall by the bed and above the dresser. It felt as if the eyes bore into you. As soon as the guide started speaking, the floor light flickered and went out. None of us were near the wires or light itself. Then, I felt something behind me and heard a creak on the stair landing, it was so pronounced that my head snapped around to see what it was. The guide seemed perplexed, and she said, "Hmmm...that's strange." I immediately began snapping photos with my Canon AE1 SLR camera, my flash lighting up the room. I knew if I was going to get something on film, that was the time to take pictures. The guide got the light to come back on, and we made our way downstairs. I was surprised when she admitted, "Well, some of the other guides have mentioned to me some strange happenings occurring here in the house..." If you asked guides in any of the other museums, they'd give you this speech about how they couldn't say if anything paranormal was there (in other words, there is). There has to be in places where life-changing historical events have occurred. I had been on many other tours in many other houses there, and NEVER experienced what I did there at Amstel House that day.
One of the strangest things happened after I got home.
I was excited to see what I had captured on my film. I had been using my camera since I was 14, and I'm almost 24 now. I took numerous photo classes in high school, developed rolls and rolls of film from that camera and always got excellent results, never had a problem. I had just put a new battery and brand new roll of film in before our little excursion. I am telling you this because the roll that I took of Old New Castle and Amstel House that day and had developed...was completely blank.

Submitted from Cincinnati:

I live in Cincinnati Ohio and my house is definitely haunted. One

time, I was watching TV and I saw a Man in the reflection of my

television. So I thought to myself there can't be anyone else here but

me (the rest of the family wasn’t present). So I turned around and I was utterly

mistaken. There was a man standing there with a Civil War suit on with

brown hair and a rifle. In the blink of an eye he was gone. But till

this day I still see a lot of the same ghost in my house.

I don't believe for a second that I dreamt or imagined this.  When I was a young boy, I lived on Bruce Drive in Willowick. One day, I played with a small child about my age most of the day and evening. I did ask him where he lived and he pointed to a big house.  When I went back the next day, both the house and the child were not present.

Since I am currently 57 and I was at the time between 5 and 7,this would have been about 50 years ago.  Never figured out how to look up the history of the area, until I was older and then life came at me and it was not a priority.   (Personally identifying information omitted from text)  We lived on the side of the street closest to Lakeshore Blvd. I remember going to the (family friends' name omitted for confidentiality) who lived to the left of us and then around the block. Since I was so young I don't think I would have been allowed to play very far from home or parent. All the bigger kids went swimming and I wasn't allowed to go. Somewhere between the end of the street and the next street heading north is where I found the playmate.  Anyway now someone else knows my secret ghost story.

(NOTE:  If anyone has information about this house or child, please contact us and we will pass along the information to this gentleman)

I have a ghost story for you!!

My mom, sister, two cousins, aunt and uncle were in Napa Valley on a wine tasting trip.  They had a great time except the house they had rented was haunted!  It is called (identifying information omitted, as we could not reach the homeowner for permission to print name of Home).  It is absolutely beautiful.  My Aunt, Uncle, and my cousins arrived first and they picked their rooms.

This is the first night they were there.   My aunt and uncle were sleeping and in the middle of the night my aunt is woken up by Someone pushing her.  She said she was "shoved" a few times and woke up and then was "shoved" again.  Before she could do anything this strong breeze blew right through her.  She said she was so afraid she couldn't even scream or move.  Finally she could move and she kept kicking my uncle to get him awake.  When he woke up she finally yelled and completely freaked out!  She doesn't believe in ghosts.  Well, I should say, she didn't believe.  Now, she does....  She insists that something was trying to get inside her.  What a horrible feeling!

My aunt was going to call them when she gets a chance and is going to try to get the scoop on the house.   I looked up the website and could find nothing about hauntings.

My experience started about 5 years ago when I was going through
a divorce and without giving too much detail, it was a really difficult
time for my children and me.

I had gone to a counselor that day. I was so beyond depression that
my depression went into suicide. I remember pulling up to the house
and seeing the garage and contemplating suicide. I remember going
up to the bathroom crying uncontrollably and when I sat there in the
bathroom I said aloud, " God, I don't want to die", help me. Just then
a sweet woman’s voice (whispered in my ear), "don't worry everything’s
going to be alright "I thought I was going crazy, I ran out of the bathroom
and went to the kitchen and just started to do the dishes.

Then, around a year later the next experience came from my sister who
was spending the night at my house.  She came downstairs crying.  She
said, “Some lady was talking to me upstairs".  She thought I was upstairs
and she was asking me questions and this lady was answering her. I
asked my sister what she sounded like, and it was the same voice that
spoke to me that one day.  I could never forget that sweet voice.

The next experience came when my sister was over my house and we
went up to the bathroom.  My sister, my 9-year-old daughter and I were
just chatting, then this cool chill came upon us in the bathroom and all
we could hear was a woman’s voice humming a song.  We all looked at
each other and my daughter said," Mommy that's not me.  We ran out of
the bathroom and I drove all of us to my sister’s house that night. The next
day, I called my church and told them to come over and bless my house.
They did come over and bless it.  Although I myself never experienced the
spirit again, many others in my house did. My cousin experienced her
humming and singing.  My brother said when he spent the night that she
kept playing with his hair.

This story is very true.  I tell this to people and they think I'm crazy.  I know
what I heard was real; it was so eerie that I can't explain.  It was a woman’s'
voice.  It was very sweet, kind, gentle. I would say that her voice sounds as
if she was in her thirties. I tried to find out who she was by looking up stuff
on the Internet but never really came across any information.

She never appeared to me in form but you could feel her presence
when you'd walk upstairs.  Every experience was upstairs.  You could
even hear someone walking at night.  It was just a really eerie experience.
I am almost grateful to have experienced it in my lifetime, to know that
there is life after death. But not sure if I'd want to experience it again!

My Story of the Paranormal –

This story is a little long, but worth reading. It is very scary and very true!!! So here it is!

I live in New Jersey. When I was younger I had always heard about a haunted house.
My mother would never tell me where it was. One June day about 8 years ago, a friend of my
mother's was visiting and I showed up and she happened to be talking about the haunted house.

I asked her where it was, my mother looked at her and smiled. Now mind you I was 27 years old at
the time. So she told me just a couple of stories and then she told me where the house was.

The story she told me was there was a lady ghost she had been seen in the front bedroom
window. She knew the people that lived in the house. So I decided to check it out. When I
got there I did see the lady in the window. I got out of my car and walked around the house.
It looked abandoned except in the living room there was a sectional couch. I got in my car
and started to leave and I had a bad feeling so I started to drive away and a black cat crossed
my path. I thought, "Well this cannot be a good sign".

So the next day I was talking to my mom's friend about the house. I had an irresistible feeling
to go back to the house, but I did not return until 2 weeks later. At the time I was pregnant and
was going to have an ultrasound that day. I had the ultrasound and everything was going great.

Two weeks later, I called my mom's friend and I asked her if she would go with me to the house
because I wanted to take pictures. She said OK. So she went one way and I went the other.
We met in front of the house. When we got out of the car I noticed that there was someone l
living there. I discussed with her that I wanted to go into the house, but she was not too happy
about that.

So I knocked on the door and a young man about (late 20's early 30's) answered the door.
I explained to him that there is a legend about the house being haunted and I wanted to know
if it was OK if I took some pictures. He looked at me and said, “One minute.”  Another man
came to the door.  He looked a little older than the other man. Again I explained the legend of
the haunted house. Remember I was only told about a woman in the bedroom window and the
fact that the ghost did not like dogs.

This is where is gets scary!!!

So I was talking to him about what I knew, and I started to think about the dog situation and
then I heard a dog walking upstairs. I asked him if he had a dog he just smirked and said,
"Yes. Max.”

We were standing there talking, and he said that he had not heard anything and that everything
was fine. I then asked him when he moved in, he said, “Many, many year’s ago.”  I just thought
there was no way he moved in many, many years ago. It just did not look like he lived there for
years. Besides, 2 weeks earlier the house looked abandoned. Then, out of the blue, he told me
"I put boxes in the basement where no one goes!" I said OK?? I did not understand why he said
that.

So he asked us if we wanted to go upstairs. We said yes. As I was walking up the stairs I had
a feeling of a dead body underneath the stairs. (Anyone who’s had a reading from me knows I
have a gift.)

We went into the bedroom to the right.  It was freezing and there was a breeze going around
the room. Remember, this was in June. There was no air conditioning, and no windows were
open. I left that room and looked into the other bedroom and the bathroom, but found nothing
else. Not even the dog we heard!

As we were standing in the hallway next to an aquarium talking I noticed that the man's pupils
were dilated.  Then I saw that my reflection and my friend’s reflection were in the aquarium but
his was not! He was standing next to me in front of the aquarium. We went downstairs because
I just had a bad feeling.

My friend pulled me to the side and told me that earlier, when she was coming down the road,
she saw a woman in the bathroom. She said she was wearing a white dress. There was no
woman in the house.

I noticed when we got to the living room that the man who answered the door was still sitting
on the couch and had not moved. He looked like he was frightened.

We started to talk again, when we heard someone stomping on the floor. We actually screamed!
The man just smirked. The other man just sat there with no expression.

So as we were going to leave I asked him if we could take some pictures.  He said yes but told
us we could only photograph the outside of the house, and not take a picture of him or his friend.
I agreed. So I took a couple of pictures from the outside.  I got an eerie picture of 2 red eyes staring
out from the doorway. When the man asked if he could take a picture of us, we said ok.
Stupid us!!!!

We went back to my house and discussed what we had seen and heard.  My friend then called her
friend, who had lived in the house for 3 weeks!  She and her husband and 2 kids lived there for 3
weeks and swore they would never go back there again!!  She said that knifes were thrown across
the room and crucifixes would be turned upside down.  She explained that her daughter's bedroom
was the one with the ghost.  Her daughter had a figurine of a dog, and every morning that dog would
be in the hallway.

She also told me that there was a place in the basement that no one would go to:  a hole in the
floor that had no bottom. First, she threw in little rocks, then sticks, then rocks that were bigger
than her hand. She said they never hit bottom. One time she was doing laundry in the basement
and some weird smoke stuff was coming out of the hole. She got a very creepy feeling and would
not go back into the basement.  She said she always did laundry at the laundry mat after that.

She also told me about a party that she had everyone was outside near the lake, she was inside
and she decided to take a picture of everyone, when she got the picture back she said that there
was a horrible face in the reflection in the glass.

She explained to me the reason they finally moved out. She and her kids were sleeping on the
sectional couch and her husband was eating dinner and watching TV. Behind the TV was a mirrored
wall. The husband was going to take a bite of his pizza and looked up.  In the mirror, standing on
the stairs behind him, was what looked like a woman wearing a white dress.  She turned and looked
at him, and he saw that she had horns coming out of her head! He freaked out, grabbed the kids,
and ran them out to the vehicle. He returned for his wife, woke her up, and told her not to look into
the mirror behind the TV.  She asked, “Why?” He shouted, "Just don't!” She saw how very scared
and serious he was, so she agreed.  When they started to run out of the house, it was all she could
do to not look! She tried as hard as she could to not look in the mirror, but it felt as if her neck would
break under the strain. This thing was making her look at it!!! She looked, and then screamed!!!!!

They went to a family member’s house for the night. The next day they went back to the house to
move out. They were arguing about who was going inside first. Someone heard the argument and
called the police. After the police arrived, they explained what had happened the night before.
The officer did not believe them. So he said he would go check out the house to prove that there
was nothing there. After a few minutes, the officer came out of the house. He was white as a ghost,
shaking very badly, and he had his gun drawn! He looked at them, but did not say a word before
he left!!!!

So they decided to leave their stuff there and that was that. The couch that I saw when I went into
the house was the same sectional couch they were on when they saw the thing.

Two weeks after I went into the house, I had to have a D&C because my baby was gone!!
Everything else a fetus could live on was still there, but the baby was gone. I asked the doctor
how it was possible to have all of the important things available, but not have the baby in the uterus,
especially since just a couple of weeks before that I had an ultrasound and everything were great??
He said he had no explanation.

I spoke to someone who is a paranormal investigator. She told me that was not a ghost
but a phenomenon demon, and he took my baby when he took my picture.

Dear PRO:  I wanted to tell you this quick (true) story.  Last summer a friend of mine gave me a ceramic statue of a fairy, which I brought to work and put on my desk.  Three weeks ago, my friend unexpectedly died in the middle of the night.  When I got to work the next morning, I found that the wings had fallen off of the fairy!

Dear Paranormal Researchers of Ohio

I have a ghost story I’d like to share:

While working the evening shift at a Nursing Home in Westlake I saw a ghost.
It was about 10 or 10:30 in the evening when I took the elevator to the basement to get a soda from the machine. When I got off the elevator and started toward the Employees’ Lounge I saw a young man leaning against the wall, arms folded across his chest and staring at the floor. I didn’t speak to him but wondered who he was and who he might be waiting for.

I got my soda and returned to the first floor via the elevator. When I got back to the Nurses’ Station I asked the other nurse and a couple of the Nursing Assistants who the gentleman in the basement might be waiting for. No one was expecting a visitor. There should have been no one other than staff in the building at this time of night so two of the Aides and I went back downstairs.

The elevator is right across from the Nurses Station and the stairway door about five or six feet away. The three of us searched the basement thoroughly, even opening closets, cupboards, etc. There was no one there. No one could exit the basement without setting off the alarms. I knew I had seen someone but had no idea where he might have gone. He could not go upstairs without the Nurse at the station seeing him and any one of us would have seen him if he used the elevator.  When we returned to the Unit I described the man, young, about twenty or twenty-two maybe, red plaid shirt and jeans. The staff starting laughing.

Turns out this was the facility’s ghost. The story was, be it true or not, that he had been a construction worker when they were building the Nursing Home and had fallen off the roof and died. In repeating the incident several times over the next few weeks I found out that many of the residents and staff had seen the ghost from time to time over the years.

I wish I had known when I saw him that he was a ghost although, honestly, I have no idea what I would have done or said, I only wish I had known.

When my hairdresser’s daughter was married she and her husband moved into his Grandmothers house in a small apartment in the basement of her house.  You had to walk thru their apartment to get to the laundry area, which also had a sewing machine.  The bride worked nights and had to sleep during the day. Every few days the sewing machine (working) would wake her up no one there.  When she told her husband he said "Oh, that's Uncle Bobby" I seems Uncle Bobby died when he fell off his bike and broke his neck and died at 5 years old He used to like to sit with his mother and listen to the sewing machine before he died this is long before the groom was born but it was well known that this occurred and the family just accepted it as normal   One day while my hairdresser’s daughter was sleeping the sewing machine woke her up. She went to the laundry room (no one there) and said "Uncle Bobby I am a nurse and work nights so I sleep during the day, when you run the sewing machine it wakes me up, will you please go up stairs to you Grandmother so I can sleep?"  There was a puff of smoke (like from a cigarette) that floated up the stairs.  Uncle Bobby never bothered her again.
